It’s common for busy business owners and managers to have challenges with their books, usually due to a lack of resources – be it time, budget , staff or expertise. The shortcomings in the accounting department eventually hamper the business in some form. This is what Bernice Parsons experienced when she started a wholesale business in Honolulu back in the early 2000s, after re-locating from Manila.
Bernice needed to focus on sales and operations, but was spending an inordinate amount of time managing invoices and reconciling accounts. Realizing this was not her highest and best use of time, she contracted with her former accountants back in Manila to oversee the accounting for the importation business. As the demand for outsourced accounting services grew, Bernice and her long-time college friend Aye Navarro co-founded Vertaccount in January 2011. The wholesale business eventually wrapped up but Vertaccount has been going strong ever since.

Vertaccount is a hybrid, cloud-based accounting firm leveraging its team of highly-trained Manila-based accountants and US client service managers to deliver expert accounting services to businesses globally. Both co-founders envisioned a solution where small businesses have access to “big company” accounting systems and support, allowing them to scale and grow with the right accounting resources.

Vertaccount champions small and mid-sized businesses and believes they should have access to the same competency and tools as much larger enterprises.

Vertaccount has offices in Manila, Honolulu, Sydney, New York and Singapore.
